Defining Goals

How to work with your AI Manager to define and pursue meaningful goals.

Why Goals Matter

Goals give direction. Without them, you're moving without purpose. With clear goals, every action can be evaluated: "Does this move me closer?"

Your AI Manager helps you:

  • Clarify what you actually want

  • Break big goals into steps

  • Track progress toward goals

  • Adjust when needed

Types of Goals

Long-term Vision (6-12 months)

Big picture direction:

  • "Launch my product"

  • "Achieve health transformation"

  • "Build a location-independent business"

  • "Master a new skill domain"

Medium-term Milestones (1-3 months)

Checkpoints on the journey:

  • "Complete MVP"

  • "Establish morning routine"

  • "Attend 5 INITE events"

  • "Find 3 potential collaborators"

Short-term Actions (Weekly)

Concrete steps:

  • "Write product specification"

  • "Exercise 4 times"

  • "Have 2 networking conversations"

  • "Make 3 path entries"

Goal-Setting with AI

Start the Conversation

Ask your AI Manager:

  • "Help me define my goals"

  • "I want to work on [area]"

  • "What should I focus on?"

Clarifying Questions

AI will ask questions to understand:

  • What does success look like?

  • Why is this important to you?

  • What's blocking you now?

  • What resources do you have?

Goal Formulation

Together, you'll create:

  • Clear, specific objectives

  • Measurable indicators

  • Realistic timeframes

  • First action steps

SMART Goals

Your AI helps ensure goals are:

Criteria
Question

Specific

What exactly will you achieve?

Measurable

How will you know you've done it?

Achievable

Is this realistic given your situation?

Relevant

Does this align with your bigger picture?

Time-bound

When will this be complete?

Goals and INITE Flow

Each block has natural goal types:

Block
Typical Goals

Break³

Challenge assumptions, try new things

Hold∞

Maintain consistency, stay present

Track∞

Measure outcomes, understand patterns

Cut²

Eliminate waste, simplify

Cast→

Define vision, plan future

Form◊

Build systems, create habits

Tracking Goal Progress

In Your Path

  • Mention goals in entries

  • Note progress and obstacles

  • Celebrate milestones

  • Reflect on learnings

With AI

  • "How am I doing on my goals?"

  • "What's blocking my progress?"

  • "Should I adjust my timeline?"

  • "What's the next step?"

Adjusting Goals

Goals aren't set in stone. Adjust when:

  • Circumstances change significantly

  • You learn the goal was wrong

  • New opportunities arise

  • Timeline needs updating

AI helps by:

  • Noticing when adjustment is needed

  • Suggesting modifications

  • Preserving core intent

  • Maintaining accountability

Common Pitfalls

Too Vague

❌ "Be healthier" ✅ "Exercise 4x per week and track nutrition daily"

Too Many

❌ 10 simultaneous goals ✅ 2-3 focused goals per block

Too Easy

❌ "Attend 1 event" ✅ "Attend 4 events and follow up with 5 connections"

Too Hard

❌ "Build billion-dollar company in 3 months" ✅ "Validate business idea with 10 paying customers"

Example Goal Conversation

You: I want to launch my product AI: What stage is your product in right now? You: I have an idea but no MVP AI: Got it. For a 6-month goal, what would success look like? You: Having paying customers AI: How many paying customers would validate this? You: Maybe 10 AI: So your goal is: "Launch MVP and acquire 10 paying customers within 6 months." Should we break this into monthly milestones?

This collaborative process ensures goals are yours, but refined and actionable.
